Week of May 7 - 11

6th 
During this week the 6th grade students will be working on the National Anthem. They will be practicing the SOLO part of the anthem with the recorder. 

7th, 8th and 9th   
The students will continue working with their instrumental performances. By the end of the quarter they will present their instrumental songs to the rest of the class.

6th Grade 
National Anthem Exam is getting closer (May 31th). 
On Friday, students will practice the SOLO of the anthem with the recorder. They will continue talking about the explanation of the stanzas and will review some of the questions of the National Anthem booklet.  
7th, 8th, 8th  
Students will continue with their expositions about Music Periods.
ASSIGNMENT FOR THIS WEEK:
Watch the video and answer the following questions: 
 1. Which was the name of the unaccompanied melody used 100 A.D. by the Christians?
 2. Why any other kind of music was not permitted during those years?  
 3. Which was the name of the symbols used to note music during that time? 
4.  Who organized the chants around the year 600? 
5.  Which was the name of the new chant?
